Business Chinese: Beginner 2. From Phrases to Conversation.
Business Chinese: Beginner 2 is the second course in IWG Institute's three-part foundational series, building directly on the pronunciation, tones, and basic structures established in Beginner 1. The course is taught in Finnish and expands the participant's practical vocabulary and grammar toolkit, moving from isolated phrases toward connected, everyday communication. Character recognition is extended, with participants learning to read and write a growing set of high-frequency characters, and Chinese communication culture is explored further — particularly the politeness levels and indirect communication typical in professional settings. Available as B2B group courses, 1:1 coaching, or onsite programs at the company's premises, including Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Vaasa, Kuopio, Lahti, or fully online.
The stage where Chinese starts to become usable
There is a point in learning Chinese where individual phrases start joining into actual communication. It comes later in Mandarin than in most European languages, because the grammar patterns, the character system, and the politeness conventions all have to develop far enough to support real exchange. Beginner 2 is where that happens: participants stop reciting fixed expressions and start constructing what they actually want to say.
The course expands the grammar toolkit so participants can form longer, more connected sentences, and broadens vocabulary across the practical situations that come up constantly — daily routines and schedules, places and directions, making arrangements, shopping and simple transactions, and expressing likes, needs and opinions. Characters move from recognition to active use: participants learn to read and write a growing set of high-frequency characters. Alongside the language, Chinese communication culture is developed further, with particular attention to politeness levels and the indirect communication typical in professional settings. All instruction is in Finnish.
